679 Pax is predicted to occult magnitude 8.3 HIP 92663 on July 16th 2015 PDT...
Contact is made with Paul Kobetz in Ukiah, who graciously invites a group of us to observe the occultation from Rubicon Observatory. It's 4km from the centerline..
Since I no longer take the 12" LX200 mobile, the main question is are there adequate optics available?? A 17" Planewave attached to a Paramount.. Mounting video to the Planewave would take some doing and I didn't arrive early enough to even try that. A couple of days prior to the event however, I had located the the target with my ST80, using the Stellarvue 80mm Apochromatic Refractor finderscope would do nicely.. Very nicely.. :-))
